Full Audio of Southwest Airlines Flight 1380 Rockstar Pilots

On the 17th of April, 2018 Southwest Airlines Flight 1380 experienced a catastrophic explosion on their number one engine leaving a hole in the aircraft, a dead engine and injured passengers. Flight 1380 departed New York’s LaGuardia Airport Tuesday morning bound for Dallas’ Love Field and was cruising at a little over 31,000 feet when passengers reported hearing a loud bang and felt the Boeing 737 shudder. Instantly there was a drop in air pressure due to a window that had been knocked out from the explosion over the left wing. A female passenger sitting next to that window was sucked part of the way out of the broken window before being dragged back into the aircraft by fellow passengers.

Gary Kelly, CEO and chairman of Southwest Airlines, said the airline is sending a go-team to Philadelphia to assist with response efforts.

“This is a sad day and our hearts go out to the family and the loved ones of the deceased customer,” he said.

Kelly said he was not aware of any problems with the jet or the engine involved in the accident. He said the airplane was last inspected on April 15.

“We don’t know the cause of this incident,” Kelly said.

CNN: Southwest flight suffers jet engine failure

According to the NTSB there was one passenger who died and seven treated for wounds from this emergency.

Southwest said the Boeing 737-700 left  New York’s LaGuardia Airport shortly after 10:30 a.m. ET, bound for Dallas Love Field. The airport said the plane had landed “safely” in Philadelphia and that passengers were being brought into the terminal. Details on what happened were not immediately released. “I just remember holding my husband’s hand, and we just prayed and prayed and prayed,” said passenger Amanda Bourman, of New York. “And the thoughts that were going through my head of course were about my daughters, just wanting to see them again and give them a big hug so they wouldn’t grow up without parents.”
